3D Viewer by Chief Architect WHAT IT IS: An app that acts as a virtual reality viewer for 3-D models made with Chief Architect software. WHAT IT DOES: Users can employ 3D Viewer to visualize and navigate home projects before they are built. To use, the original model must be exported from Chief Architect software to the Cloud (provided by Chief Architect). Sojourn 3D virtual reality navigation tools can be used to "walk" or "fly" through designs and experience exterior, room or cross-section views. WHO IT'S FOR: Designers, builders and contractors. Wood WHAT IT IS: An app that serves as a reference regarding differ- ent species of wood. WHAT IT DOES: Users can get all of the information necessary about various kinds of wood with I.D. Wood. The app contains information on more than 200 different woods and can be used without an Internet connection. Features included are: a wood glossary of 90+ terms; species names; wood origins, descriptions and properties; common uses; sustain- ability and durability; illustrations of lumber-cutting techniques; full text search tools; category navigations; lumber information; dimensional lumber conversions; thickness measuring screen; pilot hold reference; nail size reference; Janka Hardness Scale; specific gravity; lumber grading tables, and board feet calculator. The cost of the app is $4.99 on iTunes. WHO IT'S FOR: Designers, builders, contractors, homeowners and anyone who is interested in being green when building with wood. WHY KITCHEN AND BATH DESIGNERS NEED IT: The app provides an easy way to quickly identify a type of wood that a designer may come upon and find out whether it's feasible to employ in designs. Additionally, it may be used as a tool to assist a customer in finding the exact type of wood they're looking for, whether it's for flooring or a live edge accent. WHAT IT DOES: Those using Pinterest can find and save design ideas, recipes, style inspiration and other ideas that others have already "pinned" on their personal boards. The user can create multiple boards upon which to pin various pictures (either personal, found on the Web or on someone else's board). Other things one can do with Pinterest include: finding everyday ideas such as what colors complement each other, what to make for dinner, what to put on one's walls, what to wear and more; save ideas for later and organize them by topic so they're easy to find; col- laborate with friends to save ideas for joint projects; search for an idea using built-in search guidelines; save ideas found on the Web by simply pressing the "Save" button, and purchase objects that are linked to others' boards. WHO IT'S FOR: Anyone who likes to inspire, be inspired and keep track of all inspirations in one place.
