18 Kitchen & Bath Design News • June 2018 Circle No. XX on Product Card Miami Area Gains New Franke Design Boutique SMYRNA, TN — Franke has expanded its Franke Design Boutique retail concept with the opening of a Miami-area location. Continuing the roll-out of the brand's expanded presence in the U.S., this second Design Boutique delivers a tailored, immersive brand experience to the local market. The Northern Miami Design Boutique celebrated its grand opening recently in partnership with Farrey's Lighting + Bath, a leading Florida plumbing showroom. The space emphasizes the art of entertaining through high-end, inter- active kitchen vignettes designed to elevate the shopping experience and showcase how Franke products impact the functionality of the larger kitchen system. Luminaries on display include the Chef Center, Pescara and Absinthe. "For both professionals and consumers, the variety of selections available in a traditional plumbing showroom set- ting can make the design process challenging," says Oliver Bahr, president of Franke Kitchen Systems, North America. "Our Franke Design Boutiques were created to empower choice through a curated, interactive selection designed to help guests easily envision living with Franke in their own homes and establish a personal connection with the brand." Throughout 2018, Franke will open three additional De- sign Boutiques – each in markets known for strong bases of professional designers and architects, including San Francis- co, Chicago and New York. The new retail concept comes as part of a larger two-year expansion plan to grow the brand's presence in the U.S. – one the European leader has identified as having tremendous opportunity. "We've already seen great feedback from local design- ers, specifiers and consumers on our first Design Boutique launch in the California Bay Area," said Bahr. "We're so in- spired by the vibrant design community in South Florida and look forward to building momentum with our Miami-area partners at Farrey's Lighting + Bath during this year of ex- citing growth and development." PMI Releases Rule Document for Vessels ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — In col- laboration with its members, Plumbing Manufacturers International has issued version 1.1 of the Product Category Rule (PCR) Guidance Document for Kitch- en and Bath Vessel Fixtures, an update to the 1.0 document released in 2016. PCR documents help program operators apply consistent rules and calculations when developing PCRs for these fix- tures, and it has been distributed to them for their use. The document was created by PMI's Sustainability Task Group. Comprised of PMI manufacturing members, the task group is part of PMI's Water Efficiency and Sustainability Committee. The pur- pose and scope of this committee is to develop and implement strategy to influ- ence public policy, legislation, regulation, certification, listing and labeling related to the sustainability and water efficien- cy of plumbing products. The task group plans to develop additional guidance documents for other plumbing products. Franke's recently celebrated the opening of its second De- sign Boutique, located in the Miami area.
