DPHA Wraps Conference, Presents Awards BETHESDA, MD — The Decorative Plumbing & Hardware Association held its 2017 Annual Conference and Product Showcase at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, AZ, this past October. Several speakers discussed the future of retail and the showroom, the importance of delivering exceptional customer service, and attracting and keeping quality employees and engaging them in the workplace. The Product Show- case featured 70 exhibitors showcasing the latest in decorative plumbing and hardware. In addition to tapping innovative products with special honors (see related story, page 100), DPHA also recognized outstanding individuals and companies at its Annual Awards ceremony. California Faucets founder Fred Silverstein and Baci by Remcraft principal Jeff Robboy were inducted into the DPHA Council of Fellows in recognition of their career contributions to the decorative plumbing and hardware industry. Silverstein founded Plumbing World in 1977, and created California Faucets in 1988. California Faucets created a massive shift in the way the plumbing world operates by delivering products in acceptable lead times and increasing stock levels. Robboy has been an active, highly involved and deeply dedicated charter member of DPHA, serving on the original DPHA Board of Directors and as the association president in 2007. Others who were honored for their contributions to the industry, innovation, cus- tomer service and professionalism included: • Premier Marketing – 2017 Representative Agency of the Year • Accurate Lock and Hardware – 2017 Customer Service Department of the Year • Premier Bath & Kitchen, Walnut Creek, CA – 2017 Showroom of the Year • Tom Bryant, BainUltra – 2017 Manufacturing Professional of the Year • Blake Rivas, TCB Sales – 2017 Representative Professional of the Year Outgoing President Cynthia Carter, Next Generation Marketing, also presented a distinguished service award to Eric Phelps, Victoria + Albert Baths and the 2017 President's Award to Rich Campbell, Belmont Hardware for their service to the as- sociation and its members. NKBA Names 2018 Board of Directors HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — The National Kitchen & Bath Association has announced its 2018 board of directors and officers. The nine volunteer members hail from across all facets of the kitchen and bath industry, and will work with NKBA Chief Executive Officer Bill Darcy to guide the organization through 2018. The new board will again be led by Chairman Lorenzo Marquez, president of Marqet Group, who will serve a second term in that role. Vice chair is Emilee Chappell, director of marketing for TOTO Americas, and secretary/treasurer is Steve Joseph, chief product officer for Side Chef. Board members include Neil Bailey, president of Smallbone of Devizes; Patricia Davis Brown, CKBD, owner of Patricia Davis Brown LLC; Young Huh, owner of Young Huh Interiors; Allison Lowrie, chief market - ing officer of HomeAdvisor; Michael Mahan, business development and strategic growth leader at GE Ap- pliances; and Steve Petock, senior v.p. of business development, Ferguson. "We're delighted to welcome our new board, with many returning executives and a couple of new faces," said Darcy. "The unique blend of industry sec- tors and operational functions from which they hail makes this board uniquely suited to helping us direct the association in the year ahead. We look forward to working with them in our pursuit of growing our membership, marketplace and brand awareness, improving our certification and professional devel- opment programs, and enhancing overall benefits to our membership." The association welcomes new board members Allison Lowrie and Michael Mahan, while Emilee Chappell and Steve Joseph are new in their officer roles. Chris Terrill, CEO of HomeAdvisor, who served as vice chair, and Mark Kovich, exec. v.p. for Canyon Creek Cabinets, who served as secretary/treasurer, are both stepping down from the board. Serving on the Leadership Recruitment Committee are Michael Juby, director of strategic partnerships at Sears Holdings; Brian Pagel, v.p. of Emerald Expositions; John Petrie, owner of Mother Hubbard's Custom Cab- inetry LLC; Rikka Brandon, president & chief executive recruiter at Building Gurus, and Sherry Qualls, president of White Good & Co. Advertising. On the Chapter Leadership Committee are Adam Gibson, CMKBD, president of Adam Gibson Design, LLC; Linda Johnston-Panattoni, CKD, owner/design- er of Panattoni Interiors; Melissa Helvey, owner and principal designer of Crafted Kitchen Design; Kirsten Gable, kitchen & bath design assistant at Anthony Wilder Design Build, and Roseann Freitas, v.p. of Archipelago Hawaii.
