" YES, I AM planning on attending KBIS 2017 in Orlando. I like to see what is new in the industry and see if there are any new products that would be beneficial to add to my showroom." Peggy Triggs, president Cabinets by Design LLC Urbandale, IA " I HAD EVERY intention to partic- ipate this year, but I now believe that I will not. The dates are so close to the Christmas holiday that I feel I cannot take another week off of work in early January. Early January is a busy time, as people make New Year's resolutions to remodel their homes." Ronni Fryman, senior designer Kitchen Places Ventura, CA " YES, I WILL be attending. It's an easier venue to get to, and more affordable than Las Vegas. I'm looking forward, as always, to new product rollouts, renewing vendor contacts, researching companies for new products and services and taking advantage of educational opportunities." Caren Clark, CKD, CBD, lead designer Custom Kitchen Designs by Dixie Lumber Easley, SC " WE WILL NOT be able to attend this year. We need to cover the showroom. One of the other designers will be attending. The oth- er problem is it is in the middle of the week. When it hovers over a weekend, it helps with covering the showroom." Eunice Evans, showroom manager Winsupply of Cleveland Cleveland, OH " I DO NOT plan on attending KBIS/IBS in Orlando in January. I have attended KBIS each of the last five years, and I especially appreciated the last three years with the combined KBIS/IBS format and the Las Vegas venue. Travel to and from Orlando is a bit too time consuming for many of us on the West Coast, but I do plan to attend if/when KBIS returns to Las Vegas or another western loca- tion and look forward to that!" Jack Severin, distribution manager Plumbery Distribution Redwood City, CA "I WILL BE going as part of the NKBA 30 Under 30 program. I am looking forward to the networking opportunities that are present at KBIS, along with seeing and learning about the new innovations and technologies from the industry leaders. I am also looking forward to hearing from the top industry professionals." Kirsten Gable, consumer business development Schumacher & Seiler Baltimore, MD " I LOVE THE idea that it is going to be in Orlando, but why does the show need to be so early in the year? Changes in most of the cabinet companies we deal with are not implemented until the spring. I would love to attend, but I guess I will just need to wait and see." Barbara Matney, owner Barb's Cabinet Magic Shoppe, Inc. Cedar Bluff, VA " PROBABLY NOT, MOSTLY due to cost and time. I can find information on new products and materials through online magazine subscriptions, newslet- ters and social media outlets. Small busi- ness interactions can be handled through blogs and social media for business." Scott Balentine, president/owner Black Oak Construction, LLC Stilwell, KS " I HAVE REGISTERED for the show, but I am not totally sure that I will attend. I think the dates and timing are awful. In the design industry, you race for the holidays and then stop on a dime during them. It seems like poor planning. As far as cash flow, it may just be too much downtime when combined with the holidays. I was also planning to catch some Chief Architect training. I have an extensive CAD background and I have been teaching myself Chief. The program is amazing and I'd really like to take some advanced training. If between now and the date of the show I find that there will be something offered closer to home, that may also factor into my decision. I am looking forward to the ability to cross the lines with the other shows and industries – I last attended KBIS in 2009 when it was only KBIS." Trudi Smith, owner Trudi Smith Designs Walworth, NY " YES, IT IS a positive point for making new product selections and viewing trends for the upcoming year. It also gives us an opportunity to meet our vendors and sales- people face to face, which builds a more positive bond between us." Torry Manzo, president Renaissance Kitchen and Home East Norriton, PA "I DIDN'T ATTEND the show in Las Vegas, but Orlando is much closer to home, and the trip gives me an opportu- nity to make some stops along the East Coast. As far as the show itself is con- cerned, I see it as a chance to catch up on the many changes that have happened over the last couple of years. Product lines and electronic interfaces have changed as have vendors' attitudes toward their customers, and marketing has become a plague. I'd like to get a little face-to-face reality check, as well as seeing if there is anything new I would like to incorporate in my business." Charles Cameron, owner Design Details Somerville, MA "YES, I WILL be attending. I am in the market for upgrading our design software, and the show gives me a chance to compare products [in person]."
