Hansgrohe + Axor Das Design Competition HANSGROHE USA'S SECOND annual Hansgrohe + Axor Das Design Competition, which is open to architects and designers across the U.S., celebrates excellence in design, sustainability and installation of products from the Hansgrohe brand and the Axor brand in real-world projects. Two winners and three honorable mentions in the Residential Category as well as one winner and one honorable mention in the Hospitality Category were named. The winning architect or designer of each category received $2,000 toward products of the Hansgrohe and the Axor brands, as well as a round trip to New York to be recognized in front of their peers at an awards ceremony this past October. One of the winners of the Residential Category was Intexure Architects for the Tripartite House project in Houston, TX. The design-build frm specializes in creating environments for modern life, and incorporated a range of Axor and Hansgrohe products in the main kitchen and secondary kitchen, as well as the six bathrooms. The second winner in the Residential Category was ZeroEnergy Design for its design of a Boston, MA-based two-story family loft. The company, which is committed to ecologically sensible design, creates living spaces that use at least 50 percent less energy than code requirements. The urban kitchen and bathrooms now incorporate a range of products from Hansgrohe and Axor. The Honorable Mentions in the Residential category includ- ed: FIELDWORK Design & Architecture for a West Hills resi- dence in Portland, OR; Andrew Mikhael Architect for a midtown condo in New York City, and a penthouse project in Herriman, UT, done by Lake City Loft. The Hansgrohe + Axor Das Design Competition named ZeroEnergy Design a winner for its update of a family loft project in Boston, MA. The back wall of this contemporary kitchen (above, top) makes a dramatic statement, with its wood wall and ceiling and bold red backsplash. White cabinets and stainless steel appliances fank the backsplash, providing additional pop to the space. A white island with dual-tone, multi-level countertop features distinctive areas for food prep and eating. The bath (above) features a large combined shower and tub space, wrapped in large rectangular dark grey tile. The white freestanding tub coordinates with the white vanity, providing a dramatic contrast with the rich tones of the space. Included in the home are Axor Bouroullec, Starck, Starck X, Citterio kitchen collections, as well as Hansgrohe 180 Square Showerhead and Arm and E & S Soap Dispenser. Intexure Architects was a winner for its design of two kitchens and six baths in a Houston, TX home. The contemporary kitchen features a light wood tone on the kitchen island. The prep countertop material in white is continued on the darker cabinetry along the perimeter of the space. The pale wood contrasting with white is continued in one of the baths, shown above. Products incorporated in the home include: Bouroullec, Citterio Kitchen, Uno and Starck from Axo, and Hansgrohe's Metris and Raindance Collections.
