14 | Kitchen & Bath Design News | October 2015 Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } Purcell Murray Announces New Plumbing Division Brisbane, CA — Purcell Murray Co. has announced that it will launch PM Fixtures, a dedicated plumbing division that will emphasize its business expansion of high-end plumbing fx- tures, accessories and hardware for the kitchen and bath. The PM Fixtures division defnes a category diferentiation from its appliance product business unit, PM Portfolios, in which Purcell Murray has partnered with international luxury home appliance brands including La Cornue, TopBrewer and Ironox to import, market, distribute and sell each company's products throughout the U.S. In terms of plumbing, the company has represented and sold high-end quality brands such as Franke, Everpure, Fleurco and MGS. With PM Fixtures, Purcell Murray will expand its plumbing product oferings by partnering with additional international and domestic manufacturers to bring their products to market. "Our new PM Fixtures division represents Purcell Murray's latest business expansion strategy, but it also allows our sales team to communicate to our existing customer base and new customer segments that we ofer a diverse range of decorative, quality plumbing fxtures – beyond the kitchen," said Kevin Murray, who is leading the expansion into the plumbing sector for the company. The company has hired Jim Van Landingham as sales man- ager to direct the division's new sales and marketing initiatives. MIA Honors AKDO For Education Oberlin, OH — The Marble Institute of America recently honored AKDO as "CEU Educator of the Year" for presenting the most MIA CEU classes in 2014. A total of 19 speakers from the Bridgeport, CT-based frm presented 61 classes, with a total of 747 attendees. Robert Bacon of Daltile, chair of MIA's CEU Education Committee, said: "Congratulations to AKDO for leading the continuing educa- tion charge in 2014. In fully embracing MIA's CEU program, AKDO has illustrated a true understanding of the mutual benefts avail- able through this program." Diane Hayden, AKDO's showroom su- pervisor, stated: "AKDO strives to be a go-to source for information about natural stone, and partnering with MIA helps us accomplish our goals." LAUFEN Opens Customer Service Site New York, NY — LAUFEN has opened a new East Coast Customer Service Hub in Jersey City, NJ. The ofce space is located on the Jersey City Waterfront in Harborside Financial Plaza. "We look forward to continuing our expansion into the U.S. marketplace with the help of our employees," said Javier Korneluk, U.S. managing director for LAUFEN.
