12 | Kitchen & Bath Design News | September 2015 Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } KBDN Art + Science Educational Seminars Resume in KC Wilmette, IL — "Art + Science," the series of all-day seminars being presented in key markets by Kitchen & Bath Design News this year, resumes its 2015 run this month with a program in Kansas City. The seminar series, currently in its third and fnal year, will end its summer hiatus on Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Doubletree by Hilton, Kansas City-Overland Park. The 2015 program, which has already visited Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Nashville and Cleveland, will also be presented on Oct. 29 in San Diego and Nov. 19 in Baltimore/Washington, DC, according to KBDN Publisher Emeritus Eliot Sefrin. Corporate co-sponsors of the educational initia- tive include BEST, DuPont, Hafele America, Jenn-Air, Plain & Fancy, Rev-A-Shelf and Showplace Wood Products. "Art + Science" – subtitled "How Contemporary Design & Cutting-Edge Technology Can Increase Profts & Resonate With Today's New Clients" – was rolled out in 2013. Aimed at kitchen and bath de- signers looking to refresh their creative talents and expand their technological skills, "Art + Science" is targeted at identifying "what's next" in design and technology so that design professionals can bet- ter address the needs of a younger, less-traditional client while increasing company profts in the New Digital Age. "Art + Science" spotlights the growing trend to- ward contemporary kitchens and baths that require an entirely new way of managing the space and connecting the elements of the room. Also featured is a multi-media program that presents a vision of the industry's digital present and future, including ways design professionals can leverage cutting- edge technological tools from initial client contact through fnal contract. ASID Honors Dominguez As Industry Partner Washington, DC — During the State of the Society meeting at ASID's 2015 Chapter Leadership Conference in Boston, MA, Patty Dominguez, v.p. of design and kitchen & bath sales for Cosentino North America, was honored with the 2015 ASID Industry Partner Merit Award. In her 10 years with Cosentino, Dominguez has served the profession of interior design through signifcant contributions to ASID. "Patty Dominguez has been an invaluable resource to ASID during her long involvement with our organization," said ASID CEO Randy Fiser. "Her support and involvement with ASID chapters and programs and her passion for the mission of the ASID Foundation are a true testament to her dedication to the interior design industry and to our members." Dominguez currently serves on the ASID Foundation's Board of Trustees, spear- heads Cosentino's ongoing support and involvement in ASID's Real World Design Week, and has spoken at ASID's National Leadership Conference for the past four years. In keeping with her passion for industry education, Dominguez has worked to make each of the company's 25 Cosentino Centers across the country serve as an educational hub, hosting CEUs for designers to learn the latest about industry and surfacing trends. BCI Acrylic Bath Buys Luxury Bath Palatine, IL — Scott Rosenbach, president and owner of BCI Acrylic Bath Systems, has purchased the assets of Glendale Heights, IL-based Luxury Bath, a progressive manufacturer of modern, functional bath products. The purchase positions BCI to expand its network of dealers in the U.S. and Canada, and to ofer separate product lines. "Our strategic alliance with Luxury Bath complements our current brands and supports my vision to ofer consumers and the residential remodeling community the industry's most extensive selection of inno- vative bath products," said Rosenbach. "BCI has experienced incredible organic growth over the past fve years, and this alliance also will expand our bath remodeler dealer network in the United States and Canada. Our partnership also gives our dealers alternative product options to ofer their customers." Luxury Bath was founded in 1991, and today is a nationwide leader in acrylic bath fxtures. Through its strategic alliance with BCI brands, Luxury Bath will add 11 more colors and several styles to the product oferings, in addition to nearly 200 dealer locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Luxury Bath's headquarters will remain in Glendale Heights and Mark Domanico will continue to manage operations as CEO.
