12 | Kitchen & Bath Design News | May 2015 Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } KBDN Seminar to Make Stop in Nashville This Month Wilmette, IL — Nashville, TN will be the site this month for the latest edition of "Art + Science," the series of all-day seminars being presented in key U.S. markets throughout 2015 by Kitchen & Bath Design News . The seminar series, currently in its third and final year, is scheduled to continue its current run on Thursday, May 21 at the Embassy Suites/Cool Springs, in Nashville. The program, which has al- ready visited Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis this year, will also be presented in Cleveland, Kansas City, Baltimore/ Washington, DC and San Diego, according to KBDN Publisher Emeritus Eliot Sefrin. The 2015 dates and targeted cities, beyond this month, include: à June 18, Cleveland. à September 23, Kansas City. à October 29, San Diego. à November 19, Baltimore/Washington, DC. "Art + Science" – subtitled "How Contemporary Design & Cutting-Edge Technology Can Increase Profts & Resonate With Today's New Clients" – was rolled out in 2013. Aimed at kitchen and bath de- signers looking to refresh their creative talents and expand their technological skills, "Art + Science" is targeted at identifying "what's next" in design and technology so that design professionals can bet- ter address the needs of a younger, less-traditional client while increasing company profts in the New Digital Age. "Art + Science" spotlights the growing trend to- ward contemporary kitchens and baths that require an entirely new way of managing the space and connecting the elements of the room. Also featured is a multi-media program that presents a vision of the industry's digital present and future, including ways design professionals can leverage cutting- edge technological tools from initial client contact through fnal contract. AD 2015 Home Show Marks Milestones New York , NY — The 2015 Architectural Home Design Show drew an at-capacity crowd of over 40,000 people during its four-day run, and ofered a record amount of square footage for the event. The show – held at Piers 92 and 94 in New York City – boasted a total of 425 brands and 338 exhibitors, including 95 in Furniture & Furnish- ings, 84 in ReFRESH, and 159 in the MADE/SHOPS section. New produc ts dominated the foor as exhibitors used the design event as a launching pad, unveiling their introductions to the show's audience, according to show organizers. The ReFRESH area of kitchen, bath and building products featured celebrity chef tastings and instructive demos of the latest tech innovations on display. The show also boasted signif- cant programming and networking opportunities. The Jenn-Air Master Class Studio was the setting for thought- provoking and hands-on content delivered by industry icons including a keynote by Architectural Digest Editor-in-Chief Margaret Russell, as well as sessions with Martha Stewart and Christophe Pourny, David Rockwell, and the Property Brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott. According to Susan McCullough, senior v.p., Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., organizers of the event, "The expanded show foor flled with ahead- of-the-curve introductions is emblematic of our continued positive growth." Next year's ADHD Show, which will again be held at Piers 92 and 94, will take place from March 17-20. Sales Program Set for Detroit Venue Wilmette, IL — Detroit will represent the next stop for the 2015 series of all-day seminars being brought to the market under the terms of an exclusive educational partnership between Kitchen & Bath Design News and the SEN Design Group. The six-city KBDN -SEN seminar series will next be presented at the Cosentino/ Silestone showroom in Detroit on June 3, according to KBDN's Publisher Emeritus Eliot Sefrin. Additional 2015 dates include October 7 in Chicago and October 28 in Phoenix, Sefrin noted. Titled "Learn How to Double Your Sales Volume Using a Proven Selling System," the program will be led by SEN President Ken Peterson, CKD. Created specifcally for showroom owners, managers and sales designers, the program focuses on how kitchen and bath dealers can improve closing percentages, sales volume and gross margins by implementing a well-thought-out selling system keyed to today's market. Kallista Celebrates Product Launch New York, NY — Bjarke Ingels poses with Kallista's Taper by BIG bath faucet during the celebration of its launch, held recently at the Ann Sacks showroom in New York City. It is a frst-of-its-kind collaboration for Ingels and his frm, Danish architectural practice Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), as well as for Kallista, marking the company's frst partnership with a famed architect. There are a total of 14 products in the line. Cooking demonstrations were a big part of the ReFRESH exhibit at the 2015 Architectural Home Design Show.
