14 | Kitchen & Bath Design News May 2014 Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } Silestone Names Contest Winners New York, NY — Silestone has announced the winners of its Silestone Design Contest, an an- nual program that recognizes independent designers and their inspiring kitchen designs. After careful critique and delib- eration, Silestone's panel of design experts selected the three top proj- ects from nearly 90 submissions that featured Silestone natural quartz in kitchens that refect dy- namic, yet functional design. Taking First Place was Me- lissa Brewer from MB Designs, in Yakima, WA, who will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Spain to visit Cosentino's global headquar- ters. Second Place was awarded to Erin Pitts from Erin Paige Pitts Interior s, in Gibson Island, MD. The Third Place recipient was Evan Soltoff from Eggers- mann Kitchens/Home Living in Houston, TX. The second and third place winners will both re- ceive cash prizes. In addition to the top three project awards, the judging panel recognized two additional proj- ects that exemplified notable levels of innovation and design. "Best Innovator" was awarded to Faye Nielsen from The Nielsen Collection, in Irving, TX, while "Best Use of Space" was award- ed to Carlie Korniek of Arizona Designs Kitchens (now CK Cabi- netry and Design) in Tuscon, AZ. The recipients will both receive a professional photo shoot to showcase the projects. BLANCO Joins DIFFA's Program Lumberton, NJ — BLANCO has joined DIFFA's Specify With Care program, and will support the foundation with a donation when its BLANCO ATTIKA sink is specifed. "Support from Specify With Care Afliates, like BLANCO, ensures that DIFFA has the resources to help HIV/ AIDS organizations year-round and is able to respond quickly to the needs of the organizations it supports," stated Johanna Osburn, executive di- rector for DIFFA. "Specify With Care Affiliates distinguish themselves as socially conscious companies that support a cause that has had a signifcant impact on the design community." DIFFA: Design Industries Foun- dation Fighting AIDS raises and grants funds to organizations that fght HIV/AIDS by providing treat- ment and direct care services for people living with or impacted by the disease, ofering preventative education programs targeted to populations at risk of infection, or supporting public policy initiatives.
