10 | Kitchen & Bath Design News April 2014 Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } KBIS 2014 Welcomes More Than 31,000 Visitors to Las Vegas Las Vegas, NV — The Kitchen and Bath In- dustry Show (KBIS) welcomed 31,092 industry professionals to this year's show – nearly a 145 percent increase year over year – at the Las Vegas Convention Center, February 4-6, 2014. This year KBIS co-located for the frst time under the umbrella of Design & Construction Week with the In- ternational Builders' Show (IBS), owned by the National Associa- tion of Home Builders (NAHB), and VISION 2014, the International Window Coverings Expo (IWCE). KBIS 2014 attracted 500 exhibitors, includ- ing 135 new exhibitors as well as the return of industry leaders such as Viking, Elkay, MasterBrand Cabinets, Electrolux and LG Hausys Surfaces, to name a few. Rounding out the lineup were the 87 KBIS exhibitors known as Loyalty Leaders, who have exhibited con- secutively at KBIS for at least the past six years. KBIS is owned by the National Kitchen & Bath Association. "We knew coming into Las Vegas that we were about to experience something ground breaking, and we weren't disappointed. The energy on and of the show foor far exceeded our expectations," said John Petrie, NKBA 2014 president. "The co-location of KBIS and IBS allowed exhibitors and attendees to beneft from insights and product innovations serving the entire residential design and construction industry." Events on and of the show foor were in high-demand. Attendees traveled to various Las Vegas venues to experience innovative product applications as well as seminars and networking events. "Our Voices from the Industry program was sold out before the show opened," said Bill Darcy, NKBA chief executive ofcer. "We increased our sessions this year to meet de- mand for our learning oferings, and we are already looking at how we can expand oferings at KBIS 2015." Combined attendance under "one pass" was over 82,000 for both shows (KBIS and IBS), with 1,700 exhibitors in more than 650,000-sq.- ft. of combined convention foor space. Emerald Expositions, producer of KBIS, has already booked more exhibit space for KBIS 2015 than was sold in all of 2014. Addition- ally, KBIS rebooked nearly 20 percent more exhibit space on-site vs. pre-sales for the 2014 event. To accommodate the overwhelming demand from industry-leading brands, an- other 500,000 GSF of exhibit space has been added for the 2015 event. KBIS will now en- compass the North and South Halls at the Las Vegas Convention Center. KBIS 2015 will take place January 20-22, 2015, in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV, co-locating again with IBS and VISION 2015 (IWCE) under the banner of De- sign & Construction Week. King of Prussia, PA Site of Next KBDN Seminar Melville, NY — The Philadelphia suburb of King of Prussia, PA will be the site this month of the third in an eight-city series of all-day seminars being produced by Kitchen & Bath Design News in key markets this year. The Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia will serve on April 30 as the latest venue for KBDN's 2014 educational initiative, which vis- ited St. Louis last month after its February debut in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The program will be brought to fve additional markets – Milwaukee, Seattle, Denver, Stamford, CT and Dallas – according to KBDN Publisher Emeritus Eliot Sefrin. Remaining 2014 dates and targeted cities are as follows: • April 30: Philadelphia metro area. • May 29: Milwaukee metro area. • June 26: Seattle metro area. • Sept. 18: Denver metro area. • Oct. 23: Stamford, CT metro area. • Nov. 13: Dallas metro area. KBDN's 2014 seminar series – entitled "Art + Sci- ence: How Contemporary Design & Cutting-Edge Technology Can Increase Profts & Resonate With Today's New Clients" – was rolled out in 2013 to rave reviews and a record number of corporate sponsors. Designed for kitchen and bath designers looking to refresh their creative talents and expand their technological skills, "Art + Science" is aimed at identifying "what's next" in design and technology so that design professionals can better address the needs of a younger, less-traditional client while increasing company profts in the New Digital Age. "Art + Science" spotlights the growing trend toward contemporary kitchens and baths that re- quire an entirely new way of managing the space and connecting the elements of the room. Also featured is a multi-media program that presents a vision of the industry's digital present and future, including ways design professionals can leverage cutting-edge technological tools from initial client contact through fnal contract. Danze Receives NKBA's President's Award Las Vegas, NV — Danze, Inc. was recently awarded the prestigious President's Award by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). Created in 2009, the NKBA President's Award recognizes contributions and support to the association and the industry as a whole. NKBA Past President John Morgan presented the award at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show's State of the Industry Address in Las Vegas. "Danze has been a great pillar of support to the NKBA and the entire industry," said Morgan. "They have played an instrumental role in our local chapters, educational partnerships and national events such as the NKBA Gala, 2014 Design Competition and 30 Under 30 Program." Morgan also cited the inf luence and involve - ment of Danze CEO and President Michael Werner, who delivered the State of the Industry Address at KBIS 2012, has served on the NKBA Board of Direc- tors and was instrumental in helping shape and implement the NKBA stra- tegic plan. "Danze is honored and delighted to receive this award," said Werner. "Our core value is to be a posi- tive force in our industry and communities, and our participation in the NKBA is central to our involve- ment with the broader K&B industry."
