Industry Update Granex Breaks Ground on Facility Circle No. 41 on Product Card WAT ER , B E A U T IFU L LY D E L I VE RE D. Tampa, FL — Granex, Inc. has broken ground on a new manufacturing facility in Hillsborough County. The $6 million development in Tampa, FL will process granite and marble slabs from imported raw materials and create up to 50 new jobs upon completion. "This facility will be a 'frst-of-itskind' for the domestic engineering of granite and marble slabs," said Raj Emandi, president of Granex, Inc. "Once operational, we'll begin to distribute the product within the U.S., as well as export to Europe, Central and South America." Construction is projected to last approximately two months. The company is seeking both skilled and entry-level workers in positions that include production, machine operation, shipping and receivables, and sales and marketing. "It's exciting to see the American manufacturing industry continue to rebound, throughout the country and at home," said the Hon. Ken Hagan, chairman of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commission. "We congratulate Granex on its growth and look forward to the arrival of another product we can proudly acknowledge as made in Tampa Bay." Project assistance was provided by local economic development partners, including Hillsborough County, the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance. KBDN-SEN Programs Set for Boston, Orlando Melville, NY — This month marks the third in a four-city series of all-day seminars being brought to the market under the 2013 educational partnership co-produced by Kitchen & Bath Design News and the SEN Design Group. The annual seminar series, which kicked of in May, is scheduled to make its next stop on Oct. 16 at the Cosentino Center in Boston. The KBDN-SEN seminar series, titled "Systemizing Your Sales Approach for Maximum Profit," is being led by SEN V.P./Education Tom Blau. Created specifcally for showroom owners, managers and sales designers, the day-long program focuses on how kitchen and bath dealers can improve closing percentages, sales volume and gross margins by implementing a selling system keyed to today's market. The final seminar on the 2013 schedule is set for Nov. 6 in Orlando.
