Portfolio of Showrooms By Anita Shaw While tasty treats and technology are part of the experience, the overall atmosphere and innovative use of space are still what engage customers the most in today's kitchen and bath showrooms. A ny kitchen and bath designer k nows that design isn't just about beauty, it's about how the space functions for those who use it. Likewise, a room's size doesn't matter as much as the way it is designed to meet specifc needs. The same ideas hold true for the kitchen and bath showroom. Of course, the "wow" factor is something that all showroom owners and designers want to achieve. But, it's how the showroom displays its product selections to their best advantage that will ultimately engage the customer the most. The size of the showroom is also less relevant than the way the space is confgured. A small space can feel cozy and inviting or cluttered and claustrophobic. And a large showroom can be a wonderland of options or an overwhelming area that just leaves the customer feeling confused and dejected. Kitchen & Bath Design News recently spoke with four companies that have updated or opened new showrooms in recent times. The size of these showrooms vary widely, as do some of their strategies for success. FEELS LIKE HOME What can visitors accomplish in a showroom that's only 1,000 square feet? Everything they need to, assures Daryl Ann Letts, CKD, CAPS, owner of Kalamazoo Custom Kitchens and Baths in Kalamazoo, MI. The kitchen and bath design frm recently relocated to this space, one that is smaller than its previous site. This challenged the owner and coshowroom designer Rachael Blok to utilize the available area as efciently as possible. The result is an intimate Photos: Courtesy of Kalamazoo Custom Kitchens and Baths Kalamazoo, MI-based Kalamazoo Custom Kitchens and Baths' intimate showroom is designed to feel like home, with decorative details flling the displays, which feature styles from warm contemporary to old farm house. 34 | Kitchen & Bath Design News August 2013
