Formica Marking 100th Anniversary Cincinnati ��� Formica Group, the Cincinnati-based manufacturer of laminate and other surfacing products, is celebrating 100 years in business this year, the company announced. Corporate o���cials said last month that Formica has begun a year-long global celebration of the Formica brand, as well as its past, present and future impact on residential and commercial design. ���For 100 years, Formica-brand products have touched every aspect of our lives, each and every day, by surfacing millions of spaces in which we gather, work, learn, heal, shop, eat and play,��� said Mark Adamson, former CEO of Formica Group and current CEO of its parent company, Fletcher Building. Formica Group partnered with the design consultancy Pentagram to create a 2013 anniversary campaign for its Formica brand, including: new logos and supporting brand elements; a Formica Laminate Anniversary Collection, featuring 12 new graphic patterns based on the brand and its history; and a celebratory book, Formica Forever, that chronicles 100 years of history, design, cultural impact and business expansion. ���All elements of our anniversary celebration pay homage to the making of an iconic brand,��� said Paul Zuckerman, president of Fletcher Building���s Laminates & Panels Division, which includes Formica Group. ���As the brand turns 100, we���re looking back on a century of invention, business endurance and achievement. It���s quite a story.��� Mid Continent Names Winners Eagan, MN ��� The award winners have been named in the 2012 Mid Continent Cabinetry Kitchen and Bath Design Contest, an annual competition sponsored by the Eagan, MN-based cabinet manufacturer. Winners were selected in three categories: New Kitchens, Remodeled Kitchens and New/Remodeled Baths, according to Mid Continent, which noted that contest entries were judged on space utilization, storage solutions, original use of product and overall aesthetic of the space. ���Showcasing these winners allows us to recognize the innovative work of our designers, which resulted in some of the most creative solutions we���ve ever seen,��� the company said. The winners were as follows: Kitchen Remodel Winners: 1st place: Cathie Correy, Correy Design, Sugarloaf, CA; 2nd place: Kristine Guterl, Cabinet Connection of the Treasure Coast, Port St. Lucie, FL; 3rd place: Emily Mackie, Inspired Interiors, Chicago, IL. New Kitchen Winners: 1st place: Jonathan Smallwood, American Metal Moulding, Philadelphia, PA; 2nd place: Kristin Johnson, First Choice Cabinetry, Raleigh, NC; 3rd place: Mike Eprd, Locust Lumber Company, Locust, NC; Honorable Mention: Shari Bakker, Starlite Kitchens and Baths, Byron Center, MI. Bathroom Winners: 1st place: Doreen Owens, Cabinets By Design, Escondido, CA; 2nd place: Shari Bakker, Starlite Kitchens and Baths, Byron Center, MI; 3rd place: Kelly Bidwell, Kitchens and More LLC, Durham, NC. Gerber Celebrates 80th Anniversary with Contest Woodridge, IL ��� Gerber Plumbing Fixtures recently announced the winner of its Drive 80! campaign award. Rick Kogge of Kogge Plumbing in St. Marys, OH was randomly drawn from the campaign���s 2,800+ entries to win a new, fully loaded 2012 Chevy Avalanche truck. He received the truck at an intimate event held at Carr Supply, Kogge���s wholesaler located in Dayton, OH. The Drive 80! campaign was created to help celebrate Gerber���s 80th anniversary.
