Best of KBIS 2019 Call for Entries ALPHARETTA, GA — Entries are now being accepted for the 2019 Best of KBIS Awards. The awards recognize the most innovative new products showcased at the 2019 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) when it returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center, February 19–21, 2019. The 2019 Best of KBIS Categories and Awards are: • Best of KBIS: Best of Show • Best of KBIS: Kitchen Gold, Kitchen Silver • Best of KBIS: Bath Gold, Bath Silver • Best of KBIS: Smart Home Technology • Best of KBIS: Outdoor Living • Best of KBIS: Impact Award The deadline to submit products for Best of KBIS 2019 is January 4, 2019. All Best of KBIS Awards entries will be displayed on a digital wall located in South Hall near the KBISNeXT Stage and included in a flip book to be emailed to attendees the first day of the show. Additionally, submitting brands receive a Best of KBIS Entry tag on their profile page when the show opens, an in-booth Best of KBIS Entry sign to recognize a submitted product, plus a listing for each entry in the Best of KBIS page on kbis.com. Laurie Haefele, Associate, AIA, founder, Haefele Design; Aimee Inouye, AKBD, founder, AID+D, and NKBA Thirty under 30 alum; Kelly Morisseau, CMKBD, CID, MSK Design Build; Nathan Reynolds, CAPS, CLIPP, interior designer, Insperiors LLC and NKBA Thirty under 30 alum, and Aston Smith, kitchen designer, Bilotta Kitchens, will judge this year's competition. New for 2019, the Best of KBIS Awards judges will review all product entries prior to the show and narrow those to 50 product finalists based on product description, images and answers to entry questions. The judging committee will visit each of the top 50 finalists at KBIS 2019 and winners will be announced Wednesday, February 20 at 4:00 p.m. on the KBISNeXT Stage. Each winner will be called and recognized individually on stage, with "Best of Show" recognized last. The 2019 Best of KBIS Awards are sponsored by Meredith Corp., publisher of Beautiful Kitchens & Baths, Traditional Home and Dream Kitchens & Baths. Rev-A-Shelf Parent Wins Global Awards LOUISVILLE, KY — Jones Plastic & Engineering Corp., the parent company of cabinet storage and organization supplier Rev-A-Shelf, has received a pair of global awards citing the Louisville, KY-based company for product innovation, quality and delivery. Jones Plastic & Engineering, a global leader of injection molding and contract manufacturing for the appliance and automotive industries, was honored by Elec- trolux with the company's "Global Fabric Care Innovation Award." The award, presented during ceremonies in Stockholm, Sweden, recognizes collaboration between Electrolux and its suppliers in developing innovative components. Jones Plastic & Engineering was selected for the award from more than 3,000 suppliers, according to corporate officials. Jones Plastic & Engineering had previously won Electrolux's "Supplier Excellence Award" for exceptional quality and delivery in 2013, the company noted. Jones Plastic & Engineering was also awarded the Bombardier Recreation Prod- ucts "2018 Silver Award for Performance" in recognition of exceptional quality and delivery, the company announced. The latter competition was limited to 14 qualifying suppliers, corporate officials said. "It's an honor to receive these global accolades on behalf of our hardworking, dedicated employees," said Jones Plastic & Engineering President/CEO Craig Jones. "Being recognized underscores our ongoing commitment to quality and delivery, illustrating our desire to truly help our clients improve their efficiency and productivity." Grass America Begins Facility Expansion KERNERSVILLE, NC — Grass America recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 73,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing and warehousing facility. The U.S.-based manufacturer of functional hardware and movement systems for the kitchen, bath and woodworking industries is beginning work on its expansion at the Grass facility located on Highway 66 South in Kernersville, NC. The project is expected to cost an estimated $30 million. The expansion, expected to be completed in 2020, will allow the company to increase the capacity and expand the capabilities of manufacturing in North Carolina. "The plan is to increase the amount and level of production in order to meet our growing customer demands," said Tom Kipp, president of Grass America. "This expansion will provide both needed manufacturing as well as warehouse space." The project is scheduled to generate 23 new positions over the next 18 months and 44 new positions over the next three years. Grass America moved to its current location on Highway 66 South in February 1985 from its original site on South Park Drive. The original plant and office area was 40,000 square feet. This will be the fifth expansion for the company, bringing the facility size to approximately 330,000 square feet. Grass America has been operating in the U.S., solely in Kernersville, for the past 40 years. Special guests included Mayor Dawn Morgan of Kernersville; Josh Ward, Na- tional Association of Manufacturing; representatives from the Winston-Salem and Kernersville Chambers of Commerce, and representatives from the Forsyth County government as well as the NC Department of Commerce. Robern Celebrates Golden Anniversary KOHLER, WI — On Monday, October 29th, Robern, a subsidiary of Kohler Co., held a gala event in celebration of Robern's 50th anniversary at the Kohler Expe- rience Center in New York City. The evening featured savory and sweet canapés and festive music, with the overall celebration highlighted by a three-tier, golden anniversary Black Forest cake. A timeline outlining Robern's progression from its humble beginnings to producing some of today's most distinctive bath products was featured, along with a preview of new products slated to launch in 2019. Guests were also encouraged to pose at the on-site Photoboxx and commemorate the evening with a personal photograph. Approximately 150 guests attended the event, including Robern Founders Bernie and Rosa Meyers; Kohler Executive Chairman Herbert V. Kohler, Jr. and his wife, Natalie Black Kohler; Kohler President and Chief Executive Officer David Kohler and his wife, Nina Kohler; Senior V.P. – Human Resources, Stewardship and Sus- tainability Laura E. Kohler, and Robern President Andy Baines.
