Woodworking Wonders he International Woodworking Fair 2018, which took place in late August at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, is one of the leading woodworking trade shows in the world for furniture manufacturing, architectural woodwork, custom and general woodwork- ing industries. The event – owned and sponsored by the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America and the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association – featured over 1,000 exhibitors. In addition to a bustling exhibit floor, IWF 2018 also provided an educational conference designed to help companies improve products, work more efficiently, expand to new markets and be more profitable. Ten all-day symposiums focused on topics such as Closets, CNC, Countertops & Architectural Surfaces, Finishing and Powder Wood Coating. Between 25,000 and 30,000 total attendees were expected at this year's fair, gathering to see the latest in cabinetry, machinery, components, hard- ware and more. On these three pages, Kitchen & Bath Design News offers a look at some of the products that were on display during the three-day event. 1. Hettich's WingLine L, a folding sliding door system, can be used in a range of applications. The new Push/Pull to Move opening mechanism opens an entire door set with just one push or pull – with or without a handle. The system supports a door panel in heights of up to 2400mm and widths of up to 600mm. Circle No. 205 on Product Card 2. Northern Contours' new Clear Coat UV-cured finishing results in signifi- cant reduction of VOCs. The coatings consist of two main parts: a catalyst that initiates the curing process when exposed to ultraviolet light, and resins that cure very hard and are solvent and scratch resistant. Shown is Recon Nordic SG Veneer with clear coat UV finish on Metro profile, Coal SuperMatte 3D Laminate on Shaker Bevel. Circle No. 206 on Product Card 3. Planero is the first shelf developed by Vauth-Sagel with a flat steel design. The components and furniture interior feature a powder-coated steel plate formed around an inlaid wooden shelf, which results in the flat design with invisible suspension points. The inserted floors can be removed for cleaning. Planero is available in three colours: champagne, lava grey and silver. Circle No. 207 on Product Card 4. Mini Barn Door Systems are specially designed for cabinets and work just like regular barn door systems, only smaller. Offered by Richelieu, they come in seven styles in a matte black finish for a rustic look and feel. Circle No. 208 on Product Card 5. Caron Industries has extended its textured doors for cabinets with the Barn Style and the driftwood option. The ruggedness of the wood complements other finishes in the décor, whether rustic or high-gloss. Modern, exotic and even eclectic designs work with the door's warmth and authenticity, the firm notes. Circle No. 209 on Product Card 6. Sugatsune's new DSR Series door straighteners are designed to protect doors from warping. Available to install recessed or concealed, they can be used in hollow wood panel applications and are recommended for assembly under the cover of wood veneers.
