Powder Rooms Sleek and Sculptural SANDRA DIAZ-VELASCO Eolo A+I Design, Inc., Miami, FL One of the primary objectives for the remodel of this Miami, FL penthouse powder room was to bring a sense of warmth and openness to the narrow space. Designer Sandra Diaz-Velasco of Eolo A+I Design employed space-saving features such as a wooden vanity custom designed to frame the space and maximize usable surface area, as well a wall-mounted Duravit toilet. Surface-mounted lighting and a dramatic ceiling-height mirror lend an impression of spaciousness that draws attention away from the narrow dimensions of the room. The "eclectic/contemporary" aesthetic of the space is achieved through an emphasis on texture and clean, sculptural elements. Crocodile-patterned Elitis wallpaper and the rich dark wood of the vanity bring drama and depth to the space, complemented by the striking, ultra-contemporary combination of a ceiling-mounted Gessi Goccia faucet and deep Zucchetti sink basin. In addition to beauty and functionality, the renovation emphasized eco-friendly design. The 1.28 GPF toilet and valve-regulated faucet ensure efficient water use, and LED lights conserve electricity. Low-VOC glue and water-based paint were used, as well as non-vinyl wallpaper in order to prevent VOC gas-off. GOLD Photos: Juan Pablo Estupinan 74 Kitchen & Bath Design News • August 2018
