Exhibitor products were also honored via the Best of KBIS Awards. More than 150 products were entered this year, and the winners were: • Best in Show: Perfect Steam Washer with LuxCare Wash and SmartBoost Technology by Electrolux • Best of Kitchen – Gold: Kaza Concrete by Walker Zanger • Best of Kitchen – Silver: UPR 503 Undercounter Pullout Refrigerator by Liebherr • Best of Bath – Gold: Vibrato Faucet, DXV by American Standard • Best of Bath – Silver: Balletto by Robern Taking place during the lunch hours on Tuesday and Wednesday was KBIS' new DesignBites program. Presented by Scott McGillivray, HGTV personality and host of Income Property, DesignBites showcased 14 brands selected based on a combination of newness, innovation and inspiration. Tuesday's DesignBites focused on the kitchen, and includ- ed three-minute presentations by Wellborn Cabinet, Blanco, BlueStar, Viking Range, 2020, Glideware and Stikwood. On Wednesday, DesignBites switched to covering the bath, with presentations from Kohler Co., Infnity Drain, BRZ Brands, Legrand, Robern, KWC and Warmup, Inc. Two-minute ques- tion and answer sessions followed each presentation. DESIGN COMPETITION HONORS Outside of the main venue, the NKBA presented its 2016 Design Competition and Industry Awards ceremony. Nearly 400 industry professionals attended the event at the Marquee Nightclub in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Over 30 individuals were recognized across six main kitch- en and bath categories and eight specialty categories. Lori Carroll from Lori Carroll & Associates, in Tuscon, AZ, won the Best Kitchen award for her large kitchen design. In addition to this award, she was also named the winner in mul- tiple areas, taking home a total of $15,000 in cash prizes. Tanya L. Woods, AKBD, from XSTYLES, in Bloomfeld Hills, MI, won $10,000 for securing the Best Bath award. Nearly 400 entries from across the U.S. and Canada were evaluated during the competition. All participating projects were scored on various criteria, including safety and ergo- nomics, elements and principles of design, design planning, creativity and presentation. The 2016 NKBA Design Competition judging panel included: Peter J. Albanese, CKD, CBD; Charles R. Beckham, CMKBD; Patricia Davis Brown, CKD, CBD, ASID, NCIDQ, Licensed Interior Designer; Leslie Holland, CKD, CBD; John Torelli, CMKBD, and Adel Visser, CKD, CBD, CID. A CHANGE OF VENUE Future plans are already underway for next year's KBIS, which will again be held in conjunction with IBS as part of Design & Construction Week. What is changing is the venue, which will be the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. More than 580 exhibitors are already confrmed to exhibit at the event, which will encompass 332,000 net square foot- age. The event will take place January 10-12, 2017.
