KCMA ESP Adds EPA SmartWay RESTON, VA — The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's Environ- mental Stewardship Program has adopted the EPA SmartWay Freight Transport Sustainability Program as an additional option for participants to receive credit. In order to receive points, a cabinet manufacturer must enroll and actively participate in EPA's SmartWay Transport Partnership as a registered partner. The freight transport sustainability program is designed to report, track and reduce supply chain carbon dioxide emissions. KCMA ESP Committee Chairman Carl Webb of Wood-Mode, Inc. stated, "The program provides a great means to improve fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollution from the use of trucks to re- ceive materials and distribute fnished cabinets." KCMA President Mark Trexler of Master WoodCraft Cabinetry observed, "The program will provide participating companies another opportunity to reduce their already small carbon footprint." Plain & Fancy Announces Dream Design Contest Winners SCHAEFFERSTOWN, PA — Plain & Fancy Custom Cabine- try has announced the winners of its Dream Design Contest. The design contest, geared toward designers in the Plain & Fancy dealer network, ran from June through November 2015 and asked designers to submit photos of their most innovative designs. The entries were reviewed and judged by the Virginia Tech School of Design. The following were selected as grand- prize, second- and third-place winners: • Grand-Prize Winner: Shana Strauss of Millbrook Cab- inetry & Design. She will receive an all-inclusive trip to the Caribbean. • Second-Place Winner: Jeanine Diller, also from Millbrook Cabinetry & Design. She will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the historical Hotel Hershey and the extensive amenities that the Hershey area ofers. • Third-Place Winner: Deborah Vileno Esborn of George Davis, Inc. She will receive a gift card. All of the more than 200 photo submissions can be viewed on the Plain & Fancy web site, www.plainfancycabinetry.com. LG Hosts New York Launch NEW YORK, NY — LG Electronics recently hosted "Lim- itless Design," a showcase of kitchen design possibilities. The event celebrated LG's launch of a new series of kitchen appliances that feature its new Black Stainless Steel fnish. Hosting the Limitless Design event were HGTV design stars David Bromstad and Emily Henderson, who created Black Stainless Steel-inspired Pinterest boards based on images curated from the social media site. At New York's renowned One World Trade Center, Bromstad and Henderson joined in a panel discussion that included Matthew Bremer, principal at Architecture in Formation, and kitchen expert Sharon Steele of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. The panel discussion, which was moderated by Sara Peterson, editor-in-chief of HGTV Magazine, focused on the emergence of black stainless in home categories and products, among other topics.
