The four students are graduates of North Texas high schools, and each received a one-year scholarship in the amount of $2,000. The most recent scholarship recipients are: » Lauren Wells, junior, at- tending the University of Oklahoma » Ethan Geer, senior, attending the University of North Texas » Kylie Leeper, freshman, at- tending Texas Christian University » Brian Butler, graduate student, attending Purdue University Since starting the program in 2000, Vent-A-Hood has award- ed more than 100 scholarships to North Texas students as they fur- ther their ambitions through higher education. "At Vent-A-Hood, we understand the passion fueling these young stu- dents toward achieving their dreams. We congratulate these hard working students and wish them continued success as they pursue and achieve their educational goals," said Miles Woodall III, CEO of Vent-A-Hood. All scholarship recipients are children of Vent-A-Hood employ- ees and/or Vent-A-Hood distributor employees. Gerber Expands U.S. Operations Woodridge, IL — Gerber has expanded its domestic assembly and light manufac- turing facilities in Laredo, TX. The company has had an op- erational presence in the U.S. since 1932 and specifcally in Laredo since 2003. The Texas facility now has 40 percent additional space for operations focus- ing on assembling faucets, accessories and bath drains, in addition to light manufac- turing jobs. "Our team in Laredo is so loyal, dedicated and hard- working," says Bob Walsh, v.p. of global supply chain for the Gerber brand. "We knew we wanted to increase our U.S. operational footprint – and in particular stay in the Laredo area so we can keep this amazing team of people and grow from here." According to Walsh, the new facility will allow the team to handle even more product skus of brass assem- bly starting the frst part of August. w w w.
