14 | Kitchen & Bath Design News | June 2015 Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } Caesarstone Opens Plant Richmond Hill, GA — Caesarstone ofcially opened its new manufacturing plant in Richmond Hill, GA, at a ceremony on May 27, 2015. The state-of- the-art factory is the third production facility for the company, and its' frst factory located outside of Israel. Ceasarstone, which operates in 55 countries, benefts from much higher quartz-surfacing market penetration in places like Australia and Canada, where quartz comprises nearly 20 percent of the market, company ofcials said. Similar share gains are expected in coming years in the U.S., says Global CEO Yos Shiran, which drove the decision to put its frst factory outside of Israel here. "With the growing demand for our products over the last few years, particularly in North America," says Shiran, "Caesarstone is ready to ex- pand its production capacity. This is an important milestone for us, and we look forward to working with the local community to better serve our customers in the United States and ofer products also made in the U.S." Caesarstone executives, in addition to Shiran, spoke at the event, as well as city ofcials including Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler, Congressman Earl "Buddy" Carter, Bryan County Chairman Jimmy Burnsed and Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Chris Carr. The new manufacturing plant has created approximately 200 new jobs in Bryan County. A second phase of the Georgia facility will include an Experience Center designed by New York-based interior designer Stephanie Goto. It is set to open this fall. NKBA Begins 2016 Design Competition Hackettstown, NJ — The National Kitchen & Bath Association has opened its call for entries for its 2016 Design Competition. Members of the NKBA may enter the competition. To qualify, a project must have been installed between January 1, 2014 and August 14, 2015. Entries must include clear photos of the project, a concise design statement, elevations and a foor plan to scale, as well as a completed entry form. All entry packets must be received at the NKBA Headquarters by Friday, August 14, 2015. The contest includes the following categories: Small Kitchen, Medium Kitchen, Large Kitchen, Powder Room, Small Bathroom and Large Bath- room. Specialty categories include: Before & After Kitchen, Before & After Bath, Budget-Friendly Kitchen or Bath, Green Design Kitchen or Bath and Universal Design Kitchen or Bath. Overall awards will also be presented for Best Kitchen and Best Bath. Awards and cash prizes will be presented at a special ceremony during KBIS 2016 in Las Vegas in January 2016. Tidwell & Miami Nations Announce New Cabinet Company Partnership San Antonio, TX — B.J. Tidwell is returning to the cabinet manufacturing industry with a new partnership and new cabinet line. Tidwell, the former owner of Cardell Cabinetry, which he sold prior to its closing in 2013, has entered into a partnership with Miami Nations Enterprises to create Nations Cabinetry LLC, which will do business as BJ Tidwell Cabinetry.
