December 2014 ForResidentialPros.com | 17 Cosentino Seeks Student Entries New York, NY — Cosentino has opened the call for submissions for its 9th International Cosentino Design Challenge (CDC) for students in two categories: Architecture and Design. For more than eight years, the international competition has fos- tered the development of future architecture and design professionals by providing students the opportu- nity to showcase original concepts for innovative approaches to design and material integration featuring surfaces by Cosentino. As a refec- tion of their continued relationship, Cosentino has partnered with the American Society of Interior Design- ers, which will hold a voting seat on the jury. "Cosentino Nor th America is thrilled to bring our international student design competition to the talented pool of ASID stu- dent members once again," said Lorenzo Marquez, v.p. of marketing for Cosentino North America. "The com- petition gives participants a chance to showcase their creative design concepts to other students both in the U.S. and around the world." In its ninth year, the competition will extend its reach internationally, partnering with 16 organizations and prestigious international schools in the U.S., Spain, Australia, The Netherlands, Germany, italy, France and Singapore. This year, students participating in the Cosentino Design Challenge Design category, "Cosentino and Celebration," are tasked with cre- ating a concept that takes into consideration the relationship be- tween space, the observer and the Cosentino materials. In the Architec- ture category, "Playground: Fun with Surfaces," submissions should focus on spaces intended for recreation and leisure, using any Cosentino materi- als in imaginative and experimental applications. Student submissions will be eval- uated by a jury of architecture and design industry leaders based on a number of criteria including: Creativ- ity, innovation, analytical research, product adaptation, feasibility, con- ceptual and technical quality and presentation. The Cosentino Design Challenge is open to all students enrolled in the 2014-2015 academic year, studying design or architecture at any col- lege or university around the world. All CDC entries require conceptual drawings and plans, and a report explaining the design solutions and can be submitted online. The call for entries runs until June 1, 2015. The Cosentino Design Challenge will award 1,000 euros each to the top three submissions in both categories. In addition, in the United States, winning designs from any student members of ASID chapters are eli- gible for an additional $1,000 cash prize and a trip to Cosentino's head- quarters in Spain.
