KBIS 2014 BACK ON TRACK IN The 2014 co-location of KBIS and IBS promises more exhibitors, more products and more educational and networking opportunities. Las Vegas – In a city that continuously reinvents itself, it seems ftting that the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) have joined forces and co-located their respective shows in Las Vegas. The highly anticipated mega-event, dubbed "Design and Construction Week," combines the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), which is owned by NKBA, and the International Builders' Show (IBS), the world's largest annual light construction show, into one trade show, which will be held February 4-6, 2014, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Although the two trade shows took a hit from the recent recession, the decision to co-locate them is expected to create a renewed enthusiasm and increased attendance. In fact, an estimated 70,000-plus industry professionals and media are expected to be on hand to peruse products and services from more than 1,500 exhibitors – nearly 500 of which will be on the KBIS show floor – w it hin 600,000 square feet of shared exhibit space. Both shows will remain separate events with separate conference programs, but attendees can access both show foors with S4 | Kitchen & Bath Design News one ticket, thereby exposing them to more exhibitors, products, information and networking opportunities Additionally, kitchen and bath professionals will have the opportunity to extend their networking with other allied professionals – something that has become increasingly important in recent years as these partnerships can often drive sales. "The biggest and most signifcant beneft of co-locating the show is that attendees will be able to purchase just one hall pass, and yet they'll still be able to enjoy two-for-one access to the show," says John A. Petrie, CMKBD, NKBA president and owner of MH Custom Cabinetry, in Mechanicsburg, PA. "It will be an opportunity for them to discover and learn, to identify new revenue streams, January 2014 and then, obviously, continue to network with their industry peers. "The other significant benefit – depending on what side of the aisle you are accustomed to being from, whether that be the NAHB home builder side or the KBIS kitchen and bath side – is that attendees will be exposed to literally hundreds of new and/or diferent products they can gain knowledge of, and perhaps use in their designs, to take back to their clients." Unlike previous years, where the show ran two full days and one partial day, the KBIS show foor will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days. EXPANDED SEMINAR PROGRAM As always, education – for all segments of the industry – remains a primary focus of the show, with sessions beginning on February 3. This year, NKBA University ofers more than 100 different programs, with more than half of them carrying
