Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } Cosentino Opens Second Distribution Center Hampton, VA — Cosentino opened a new major U.S. hub in Hampton, VA last month. The Cosentino Northeast HUB is the second central logistics and receiving facility for the company, and features more than 160,000 square feet of warehouse and office space. It serves as a central location to receive all Cosentino brands manufactured in Spain for customers along the East Coast. The facility will catalog and store the products, expediting distribution to regional Cosentino Centers, home improvement centers, fabricators and kitchen and bath specialty stores. 16Circle No. 11 & Bath Design News | Kitchen on Product Card The Hampton HUB represents a signifcant investment in both infrastructure and inventory. Cosentino invested $3 million in the construction of the new HUB and $10 million in inventory. The new HUB brings 10 new jobs to the area, with an anticipated growth of 15 to 20 percent annually. "This second HUB will complement our Houston logistics HUB, allowing for Cosentino to expedite shipments for the growing residential and commercial needs along the entire East Coast, as well as supplying the eight Cosentino Centers in the region," offered Lorenzo Marquez, v.p. of marketing for Cosentino North America. The addition of the Northeast Distribution HUB is part of the company's strategic growth plan to amplify its presence in the U.S. market over the next few years with increased distribution of its products. August 2013 Formica Celebrates 100th Anniversary Cincinnati, OH — Formica Group, the inventor of laminate, is marking 100 years of invention, innovation and design leadership in 2013 and is entering a year-long global celebration of the Formica brand and its past, present and future impact on residential and commercial design. Formica Group has partnered with design consultancy Pentagram to create a 2013 anniversary campaign for its Formica brand, including: "Formica Forever" 100-year logos and supporting brand elements to be used throughout 2013; a Formica Laminate Anniversary Collection, featuring 12 new graphic patterns based on the brand and its history, and a celebratory book, Formica Forever, that chronicles 100 years of history, design, cultural impact and business expansion. "All elements of our anniversary celebration pay homage to the making of an iconic brand," shared Paul Zuckerman, president of Fletcher Building's Laminates & Panels Division, which includes Formica Group. "As the brand turns 100, we're looking back on a century of invention, business endurance and achievement. It's quite a story."
