Industry Update { Noteworthy developments impacting the kitchen and bath market } Design Competition Winners Named by Cosentino���s Silestone New York ��� Silestone, whose parent company Cosentino North America is a major supplier of natural quartz and other surfacing, has announced the winners of the Silestone Design Competition, a program that recognizes independent designers for creating inspiring kitchen design. According to the company, Silestone���s panel of design experts selected the three top projects from Certified Kitchen Designers whose work featured Silestone natural quartz in compelling kitchens that reqect dynamic, yet functional, design. The kitchen projects were completed between Sept. 2011 and Sept. 2012. 14 The top award-winner was Jackie Balint, from The Kitchen Collection LLC, in Redondo Beach, CA. As the winner of the competition, Balint will receive an allexpense-paid trip to Spain, where Cosentino maintains its worldwide headquarters. Second Place went to Brett Gonsalves, from Kitchens & Baths, in New Bedford, MA. Third Place was awarded to Alice Sin, from Sierra Custom Kitchens in Pasadena, CA. Both Gonsalves and Sin will receive an American Express gift card, Silestone o���cials said. The award recipients of the Silestone Design Competition were selected by a panel of leading designers, | Kitchen & Bath Design News Circle No. 08 on Product Card February 2013 which included Kim Lewis, former designer for ABC���s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and founder of the Los Angeles, CA-based Kim Lewis Designs; John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon, the design duo behind Madcap Cottage in New York City; and Mark Williams of Mark Williams Design Associates in Atlanta. ���We had an overwhelming response, with many great projects,��� said Lorenzo Marquez, v.p./marketing for Cosentino North America, the parent company of Silestone. ���We���re excited to continue this program and support independent designers using our products for their beautiful designs.��� Danze Event Assists Charity Woodridge, IL ��� Danze, Inc. and its employees have continued their ongoing e���orts to pnd a cure for lymphoma ��� this time by hosting a half marathon benepting the Lymphoma Research Foundation. The Danze Half Marathon, which took place recently in Seekonk, MA, involved nearly 60 participants and earned thousands of dollars for further lymphoma research. ���I wanted to pnd a way to support this great cause,��� said Gary Cardono, Danze director of hospitality sales and the race���s founder. ���It���s part of Globe Union���s (Danze���s parent company) core value to be a positive force in the world. I hope my e���orts will positively impact those who are a���ected by this and other cancers.��� The next Danze event, a 5k road race, is scheduled for April 7 at Francis Farm in Rehoboth, MA.
